The Week Ahead in Podcasts & Articles W/c 15th September 2025

As ever, we’ve got a full line-up of podcasts and discussions across the week. Gareth Wax (host, producer, director) and myself, Hamish McLay (conveyancing collaborator), will be at the helm, joined by regulars and guest contributors.

Tuesday 16th September – Property Matters at 1pm
A Right Delayed: The Endless Wait for Accessible Homes

Disabled residents often face lengthy battles with councils over home adaptations and accessibility improvements. From simple modifications to major works, the delays and refusals create hardship and frustration. We’ll be joined by Spencer Collins and Kirsty Hall, both of whom are dealing with individual council battles, to bring lived experience into the conversation.

Wednesday 17th September – IPSA Kind of Magic at 1pm
Beyond the CON29R – Why Detail Still Matters

The CON29R is the required part of a Local Authority Search, covering everything from planning decisions to road proposals. Yet what many overlook is the importance of detail — not just what’s included, but how it’s interpreted and explained. This week’s IPSA Kind of Magic will look at why the small print still matters, how local expertise adds value, and why conveyancers need more than just a tick-box answer.

Thursday 18th September – Property Quorum at 10am
Renters’ Rights Bill – What’s Coming and When

The much-anticipated Renters’ Rights Bill is beginning to reshape the private rented sector, yet the details of its rollout are still unfolding. We’ll be looking at the key measures, the timelines, and how they could affect landlords, tenants, and property professionals alike. Juliet Baboolal, experienced property lawyer and partner at gunnercooke, and Chris Gilsenan, developer and investor at Root Home, will be joining the discussion.

Friday 19th September – Cladding Matters at 1pm
The Need for Consumer Protection Against Building Defects in Blocks of Flats

Flat buyers often discover too late that their homes are riddled with defects – with little recourse once the keys are handed over. From weak regulatory oversight to poor accountability in construction, the risks fall squarely on the shoulders of consumers. We are fortunate to be joined this week by The Earl of Lytton, whose insight on building safety and resident protection will help us probe the way forward.
